Zoe
Gertner specialises in teaching wood carving and
is a fully qualified teacher, adult
education tutor and
professional woodcarver who studied
anatomy and kinesiology as part of her Honours
degree. She has experience teaching people from
all walks of life, including the inmates of an HM
Establishment, and her woodcarving courses,
lessons and classes she holds in Devon, south
west England are for students of any age from 8
years upwards. Many retired people have found
wood carving and sculpture tuition has given
them a new and absorbing leisure activity, as
have woodworkers, turners and craft workers,
those from medical and educational professions
and others seeking relief from the stresses of
life.
A professional
woodcarver and sculptor since 1980, Zoe is
experienced in all aspects of wood carving and
wood sculpture, including relief carving,
lettering, fairground and carousel work.
Formerly living in Somerset, she has carved a
series of pew ends depicting the local
industries of that area for St Mary's Church,
Wedmore, Somerset, and for several years taught
classes in wood carving for Strode College in
Street, Somerset. Her woodcarvings can also be
found in other Mendip churches as well as as
well as in private collections all over the
world.
She has contributed
to both 'TraditionalWoodworking'
magazine and 'Woodcarving' magazine as
well as its two books of articles 'The
Woodcarvers' and 'Wood Carving for
Beginners' published by GMC Publications.

- A Foundation Course' covers everything a
beginner needs to know, followed by a series of
projects designed to help you develop basic
carving skills. details

produced a series of woodcarving
booklets details Ideal for beginners that covers
the basics of woodcarving and which will be
available on DVD later in the year.
